I arrived at Dubai in April of the 98 with a contract of 3 months for The Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Argentine Restaurant "La Parrilla" located in floor 25, like pianist of an English group that made tangos in that language and some in Spanish.
And here I am, directing a show of tango with Gisela Córdoba (electric bass), Alejandra Segura (singing) Paula Vélez and Andrés González (tango dancers and boleadoras show).

It is possible to be said that we are the unique ones that we make tango here, and that we acted for a majority of tourists. Is the only place in the Middle East restaurant Argentine exists and, of course, the only one where it is possible to be listened and to be seen dance tango. They like very many. They pay attention to him to music, the dance or the singer, although they do not understand anything what says. One note which they listen to with much attention subjects like "Volver", "Uno", or "Por una cabeza", and is something that always surprises to us. The interest increases as it spends the time. In 1998, when I arrived at Dubai, it went to shopping for cd's, it requested something of tango and they did not know nor what was. To once they showed to the disc "Tango" of Julio Iglesias. I explained to them that that was not authentically Argentine. Of course, to anybody it interested to him to dance tango. Today, the tango dancers Cesar and Elizabeth have more than 40 students and the tendency increases. We do not forget the customs of this country, where the women totally are covered...

Now until they request specially certain tangos to us. For example, "La Cumparsita", "El choclo", "Adiós Nonino". But also unusual things, as "Don't cry for me Argentina". As it is obvious, "Don't cry..." has been incorporated in the repertoire... Here I had the opportunity to make a show for Princess of Malasya, in a suite of the Burj Al Arab (the first Hotel 7 stars in the world) that is in the sea. Also I played in a meeting organized by the Argentina Embassy in Kuwait and the Argentina Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
Much famous people walked this way, and listened to Argentine tango. Recently they were the Schumacher brothers and also David Nalbandián came, the bailaor Joaquín Cortés or the golfist Ricardo González. In short, no place is as distant as so that the tango does not arrive.
